Sagem — Complete Guide to All Models: MY, MW and Vintage Production

The History of Sagem Mobile

Sagem (Société d'Applications Générales de l'Électricité et de la Mécanique) is a French company founded in 1924 in Paris. Its mobile phone division was one of the most important in France and Southern Europe between 1999 and 2008.

Sagem was the leading French mobile phone manufacturer and for several years was the second best-selling brand in France after Nokia. Sagem phones were distributed mainly through French network operators (Orange, SFR, Bouygues).

In 2008 Sagem Mobiles was sold to Sofibus and then to Haier (a Chinese company). Production under the Sagem brand ended in 2009.

Sagem Secret Codes — Safe and Verified List

These codes are universal and safe. They work on most Sagem models and carry no risk.

⚠️ Codes NOT to use (dangerous)

Important note: Sagem secret codes vary by model and firmware version. The codes listed in this guide are the universal and safe ones, verified on multiple models. Not all codes work on all phones: if a code doesn't respond, your model doesn't support it. Don't try codes found online without verifying their source: some can erase all data or lock the phone.

Compatibility and Spare Parts

If you're restoring a vintage Sagem, here's what to know:

• Batteries: most Sagem MY models use interchangeable batteries. Always check voltage (3.6V or 3.7V) and capacity (mAh).

• Chargers: Sagem uses proprietary connectors. Newer models (MY 501C, MY 850C) use mini-USB.

• Covers and accessories: hard to find new. Online marketplaces (eBay, Subito) are the main sources.

• Display: spares are rare. If the display is broken, it's often cheaper to buy another unit.

FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if my Sagem is original?
Check the IMEI with *#06# and compare it with the one printed under the battery. If they don't match, the phone may be counterfeit or modified.

2. Do Sagem phones still work today?
Yes, but only for calls and SMS on 2G networks. In many European countries 2G has been shut down, so check coverage in your area before buying.

3. Which Sagem is the rarest?
The MW 302X (WiFi 2003) and the MY 400V (first 3G) are the rarest and most sought after by collectors.

4. Can I use a modern SIM in a Sagem?
Yes, if the SIM is mini-SIM format (or if you use an adapter). 4G/5G SIMs work, but the phone will only use the 2G network.

5. Where can I find replacement batteries?
On eBay, Amazon or specialised vintage phone parts sites. Search for the battery model code.
