Sagem: Secret Codes and Tricks for All Vintage Models — Complete Guide 2026
Share
This is the definitive guide to Sagem secret codes for vintage phones. Sagem — a French telecommunications brand, acquired by Motorola in 2005 — has a unique system based on the "Hotline Menu" (officially called that in technical documents), accessible by holding the * key in the main menu. This hidden menu shows firmware version, real battery voltage, LCD test, vibration test and allows managing the SIM lock. This guide covers all main models of the MY X, MY C, MY V and S series.
How the Sagem Code System Works — Read First
-
Basic Hotline Menu — hold
*in the main menu → shows firmware version, battery voltage, LCD test, SIM Lock, certificates. -
Extended Hotline Menu — type last 7 IMEI digits +
*, press OK → Hotline Menu expands with 3 additional submenus: RAM, Network, Test Network. -
Advanced test mode (MY X3, MY X5, MW/MC9xx series) — specific code per family.
The Hotline Menu is official: Sagem called it "Hot-line Menu" in its technical documents. It was designed for hotline technicians — they would ask customers to access it to read firmware version and battery voltage for remote diagnosis. This information is very rare online.

The Hotline Menu — Full Guide to Submenus
How to access:
- From the main menu (NOT from the standby screen)
- Hold the
*key for approximately 3 seconds - The Hotline Menu appears
Available submenus (vary by model):
Application (submenu):
- Full phone firmware version (e.g. "MY X5 V19.10.4 27/09/04")
- Real battery voltage in mV — the most valuable information in the menu. A healthy battery shows 3700-4000mV at full charge. Below 3400mV the battery needs replacing.
Delete all applets: Deletes all user-downloaded Java MIDlets. Warning: appears on some phones without Java functionality but does nothing on them.
SIM Lock: Asks for a password. Enter the NCK code specific to the IMEI to remove the SIM lock. This is the main path for unlocking a Sagem from the network without external tools.
Tests LCD:
- Full-colour pattern LCD display test
- Vibration motor test
Certificate: Shows security certificates installed on the phone.
How to access the Extended Hotline Menu (very rare):
- From the standby screen (main clock display)
- Type the last 7 digits of your IMEI
- Add
*at the end - Press OK
- Now access the Hotline Menu (hold
*) → you'll find three additional submenus:- RAM — available and used RAM memory status
- Network — real-time GSM parameters: Cell ID, LAC, MCC, MNC, signal strength in dBm
- Test Network — advanced network tests
Why the last 7 digits? The IMEI is 15 digits. The last 7 (excluding the final check digit) identify the unique serial number. Sagem used this as a "key" to unlock the advanced Hotline Menu level — an elegant anti-accidental mechanism.
Advanced Test Mode — Model-Specific Codes
These codes open an even deeper test mode than the Hotline Menu. Does NOT work on MYX3D, MYX5D, MYX5M, MYX6 — these models don't support test mode.
For MW/MC9xx series (MY C-9):
*0287257X where X is a number from 0 to 9 (try each until it works)
For MYX3 and MYX5 series with firmware DX4.x:
*2266326234Y where Y = (sum of last 4 IMEI digits without check digit) MOD 10
For MYX3 and MYX5 series with firmware DX3.x:
*2266326233Y where Y = same MOD 10 calculation
Example Y calculation:
If the last 4 IMEI digits (without check digit) are 7, 4, 8, 3: Sum = 7+4+8+3 = 22 22 MOD 10 = 2 Therefore Y = 2
For MY X5 with DX4.x firmware: *2266326234**2**
What does this code open? The advanced test mode shows Field 94 — a technical screen with all internal hardware parameters of the phone, including RF calibrations, transmission power settings and GSM chip parameters. Information normally only accessible with professional test equipment.

Interpreting Battery Voltage from the Hotline Menu
The most useful data from the Sagem Hotline Menu is the real battery voltage in mV. Here's how to interpret it:
| Voltage | Battery status |
|---|---|
| 4000-4200 mV | Fully charged — excellent condition |
| 3700-3999 mV | Well charged — good condition |
| 3400-3699 mV | Medium charge — monitor |
| 3100-3399 mV | Low charge — battery needs replacing |
| Below 3100 mV | Exhausted or defective |
This information is available at any time — even with the phone connected to the charger, in which case it shows the charging voltage (generally 4100-4200 mV during active charging).

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the menu called "Hotline"? Because Sagem designed it for hotline support technicians — they would ask customers to access it to read firmware version and battery voltage for remote diagnosis. The name has nothing to do with SIM hotlines but refers to the technical support hotline.
Is the battery voltage in the Hotline Menu accurate? Yes — it's the voltage measured directly by the battery management chip, not an estimated value. It's much more accurate than the graphic bar indicator. Accuracy is generally ±50mV.
How do I calculate Y for the advanced test mode? Take the last 4 digits of your IMEI (excluding the final check digit). Add them together. Calculate the remainder of dividing by 10 (MOD 10). This is Y. Example: IMEI ends with ...74831 → last 4 digits (excluding final 1) are 7,4,8,3 → sum=22 → 22 MOD 10 = 2 → Y=2.
Does the *2266326234Y test mode work on all Sagem phones? No — only on MY X3 and MY X5 with DX4.x or DX3.x firmware. Does NOT work on MYX3D, MYX5D, MYX5M, MYX6. The MW/MC9xx family uses *0287257X instead.
Is Sagem still active? No — Motorola acquired Sagem in 2005 and the brand was gradually discontinued. The last Sagem phones were produced around 2007-2008. The brand still exists for other products (fax machines, TV decoders) but not for phones.
Does the Ericsson menu code >*<<*<* work on the Sagem S341i? No — the S341i uses Sagem firmware despite the hardware being derived from the Ericsson T39. Only Sagem Hotline Menu codes work on this model.
