Vintage Nokia: complete guide to hidden codes, network unlock, reset, and technical issues

Do you have a vintage Nokia that doesn't work? This is the most complete guide for solving problems with historical Nokia phones — from the legendary 3310 and 6310i to the N-Series smartphones and the luxurious Nokia 8800.

Nokia hidden codes — valid for almost all models

  • *#06# — Show IMEI (works on ALL Nokia models)
  • *#0000# — Software version, date and model number
  • *#92702689# — Hardware information and production date
  • *#7780# — Soft reset (restores settings, keeps data)
  • *#7370# — Full hard reset (erases all data — caution!)
  • *3370# — Enable Enhanced Full Rate (better call quality)
  • #3370# — Disable EFR (longer battery life)
  • *4720# — Enable Half Rate (longer battery life)
  • *#67705646# — Remove operator logo from screen
  • *#2820# — Bluetooth address
  • Factory security code: 12345
  • Alternative code: 0000

Nokia 3310 and 3330 — the most beloved phones ever

Forgotten PIN:

  1. Enter wrong PIN 3 times → phone asks for PUK
  2. PUK is on the original SIM card or by calling the operator
  3. Warning: 10 wrong PUK attempts → SIM permanently destroyed

Forgotten security code: Try 12345 first then 0000. If it doesn't work:

  • *#7780# — soft reset (keeps data)
  • *#7370# — full hard reset (erases everything, code returns to 12345)

No network or SIM not recognised: The 3310 only works on GSM 900. Menu → Settings → Network settings → Search operator → Manual. Select your operator. If the list is empty: the SIM doesn't support GSM 900.

Battery doesn't last long: BL-5C batteries are still manufactured and easy to find. Beware of counterfeits.

Display with lines: The display flat cable may be slightly detached. Open the phone and reposition it.

Nokia 6310i — the perfect business phone

Forgotten security code: Try 12345. If not: *#7370# (hard reset, code returns to 12345 — warning: erases all data).

No network or weak signal: The 6310i is triband (900/1800/1900 MHz). Menu → Settings → Network settings → Network selection → Automatic. If nothing: manual selection of your operator.

Nokia 6310i Mercedes — special version: The Mercedes version is rarer and worth more as a collector's piece. Do not modify the software.

Bluetooth doesn't work: The 6310i's Bluetooth is version 1.1 — not compatible with modern Bluetooth 5.x headsets. Works with old Bluetooth 1.x/2.x headsets.

PC synchronisation: Nokia PC Suite with DKU-5 cable or IR adapter. Compatible with Windows XP/Vista/7. For Windows 10/11: install in compatibility mode.

  1. Hold the power button for 8-10 seconds
  2. If nothing: remove the battery for 2 minutes and reinsert

Nokia 8800 Arte and Sirocco — storage: Do not attempt reset or firmware flash — preserving the original software is essential for collection value.

N95 GPS can't find signal: Go outdoors. Wait 5-10 minutes for first lock. Configure A-GPS: Menu → Location → Positioning server → enable.
